Whole 22.A Assignment
Advantages of Single Camera Production:
Cheaper; if more
cameras were used, each cameraman would cost money and lighting and sound
units. With multiple cameras running, the costs increase. More aesthetic
control; lighting and sound for each shot, enhances the detail and excitement.
You don’t need both actors on set at the same time; film the shots for one
whilst the other is in their trailer and vice versa. Practicality; you
aren't limited in how much space you need to set up your shot.
Disadvantages for Single Camera Production:
It takes longer
to set up because of all the cameras and cameramen. It is less realistic
reactions; as one actor gets filmed at a time, the reactions aren't as
natural. Repetition; repeat the same shot 3 times to get each angle as you
can only get one at a time, however use of multiple cameras you're able to
capture everything at once. You'll be spending a lot of time in the editing
suit because of all the shots that have been taken. With multiple cameras, you
could shoot different angles and takes at the same time, using different people
for the cameras.

Realist
Narratives are Stories, Settings, Elements and Characters, which act, respond
and follow the realistic rules of the real world.
Stories such as this include Serials like Eastenders, Hollyoaks
and Holby City.
These stories resemble real life, and fictional characters within
these stories react similarly to real people. Stories that are classified as
realistic fiction have plots that highlight social or personal events or issues
that mirror contemporary life, such as falling in love, marriage, finding a
job, divorce, alcoholism etc. As they depict our world and our society.
Characteristics of this Include:
· Realistic fiction stories that tend to
take place in the present or recent past.
· Characters are involved in events that
could happen.
· Characters living in places that could be
or are real.
· Characters that seem like real people
with real issues solved in a realistic way (Excluding stories containing
vampires, werewolves, sorcerers, dragons, zombies, etc).
· The events portrayed in realistic fiction
conjure questions that The Audience could face in everyday life.
Anti Realist Narratives is Surreal,
Dreamlike or Exaggerated reality to a point of disbelief. Narratives like this
involve and envelop anything containing Settings, Characters, Behaviour and
Plot Points, which are unrealistic or crazy in comparison to how others would
act in real life.
Characteristics of this Include:
· Surreal, Dreamlike Stories that can take
place in any setting and time.
· Characters that can be equally as random
to fit or rather unfit the setting and time.
· Set pieces, which could range from
anything including, but not limited to, (The destruction of the planet,
retrieving plans for a life endangering super weapon, fighting evil exes and
ensuring galactic peace).
· The events in these Stories taking place
are challenges that the audience may never if ever face.
Narrative
Narratives are set in different States be
it Linear , the most common form of narrative structure consisting that scenes,
events and set pieces play out in a beginning, middle and end sequence or
it could be Episodic which Features Flashbacks or Chapters.
Other Narrative Structures include
Circular or Sequenced narrative which may be chopped into pieces leading into a
major story (Such as Pulp Fiction) These types of narrative are the most
Complex , they require concrete writing and stable editing in its final cut to
not seem awkward or confusing.
Camera angles
In a Single Camera Drama, the use of
camera is pivotal to the story, settings and world being portrayed. There is a
crucial use of Mise En Scene is so that the audience recognise the items, the
clues and features defining the characters, settings and the set pieces
revolving around items used in everyday or hints to the storyline. Use of red
herrings, clues, foreshadowing and Easter eggs planted by Directors, Producers
and sometimes Actors can make for a films replay ability with examples such as
Pulp Fiction and Fight Club which feature secrets and Easter eggs leading to
theories which are still being discussed years later.
However when it comes to filming these
scenes featuring characters and worlds (fictional and Non Fictional) many
camera angles and shots are considered to properly portray the Setting,
Characters and Information.
A
single camera production generally employs just one camera. Each of the various
shots and camera angles is taken using the same camera, which is moved and
rearranged to get each shot or new angle. The lighting setup is typically
reconfigured for each camera setup.
In
single-camera, if a scene cuts back and forth between actor A and actor B, the
director will first point the camera towards A and shoot shots number 1, 3, 5,
7, and so on. Then they will point the camera toward B and do shots number 2,
4, 6, 8, and so on. In the postproduction editing
process, the shots will be assembled sequentially to fit the script unlike the
Multi-camera, which consists of multiple cameras arranged to capture all of the
camera shots.
